Thomas:I think now is a good time to reflect on our various campaigns for the past year. I’d like to ask Sandra to give a review of the marketing strategy.
Sandra:Certainly, Thomas. Thank you. Well, we gained a competitive advantage by being the first to offer a videophone with so many great features. By being the first, we had virtually an untapped market at the beginning.
Thomas:Ah yes, the good old days. That was before tougher competition, which led to brand switching and decreases demand.
Sandra:Unfortunately, yes. NWC responded by offering some good sales promotions. However, we didn’t cut the price because we didn’t want to spark a price war. What we have also done is come up with some more aggressive marketing and advertising, including some B2B promotions. Our new advertising campaign for the next quarter features some very clever concepts to hook customers.
Thomas:Yes, I understand you’ve developed some good campaigns to plug the GR8–you’ve even found a popular celebrity to plug the videophone.
Sandra:That’s right. Young, sexy Paris Hilton will be endorsing the GR8 in a series of TV and print ads soon. The campaign is aimed at opinion leaders. We’re waiting for the Nielsen Ratings to come out before deciding on the exact media.
