Common business idioms | |
2016/7/12 | |
Let’s work on getting the accurate details of the idioms we’ve been learning this month. Remember that normally the only word in the idiom that you can change is the tense of the verb. Apart from that change, the idiom has to be completely accurate.
But here, please notice that ‘from the word go’ and ‘touch and go’ are very fixed. You can’t change anything in these idioms, not even the verb tense.
Task 1: Correct the mistakes in these sentences.
Figures just go into one ear and out from the other. I can never remember them.
--> Figures just go in one ear and out from the other. I can never remember them.

I didn’t think we could finish the project on time. It was touch and went.
I’m trying to hold some things together, but it’s difficult.

We need to bring her the book if we want her work to improve.

Her performance has gone beyond the joke. Fire her immediately.
High demand usually goes hand in hand together with high prices.
