Set-phrases for emails: Closing I | ||
2015/09/08 | ||
This month, we are going to look at some closing set-phrases. First, let’s look at some closing set-phrases with the verb ‘apologize.’
* The last two set-phrases are used for opening. Use these set-phrases to begin an email if you are replying after a delay.
* All the rest are for closing. Use these set-phrases to end an email in which you have been dealing with a problem or a mistake caused by your company.
* The closing set-phrases are organized with the most informal at the top, getting more formal as you go down the column.
* “We apologize to you for any inconvenience we may have caused.” Use this when the inconvenience took place in the past and you are apologizing that it happened.
* “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.” Use this when the inconvenience is going to happen in the future and you are warning and apologizing in advance.
Task 1: Correct these sentences. Focus on little words, end of words, and the complete set-phrase.
Apologize for the error.

Make sure your answers are the same as mine. Check the little words, the end of words and make sure your set-phrases are complete.
Apologies for our delaying is always wrong. You cannot use ‘our’ in front of Ving.
