Last week we leart about ‘hope’. Now let’s look at ‘wish’. In emails ‘wish’ is always used for closing set-phrases.
Task 1: Study the language bank and my comments.
*You can see from these set-phrases that ‘wish’ is always followed by an n.p. when it’s used to close an email or letter. Later we will look at a different meaning and use for ‘wish’ when you want to use it in conversation to express your personal wishes and dreams.
*Notice also that you should always write the subject: ‘I wish…,’ not ‘Wish…’
*Use these set-phrases when there is a holiday or festival approaching, or if you know your customer is going to another job.
