Please write, in at least 300 words, a well-organized essay to express your opinion on “What causes people to seek non-Western medical cures like traditional Chinese medicine or herbal supplements?”
Western medical treatments have, ever since the dawn (黎明、開始) of industrial revolution (工業革命), dominated (統領,占優勢) the worlds medical sphere (領域). Some sure-fire (確實有效的) vaccines (疫苗), state-of-the-art (尖端的) technologies, and advanced surgeries have been invented to save peoples life on the brink of death (瀕臨死亡的邊緣). Nevertheless, human wisdom and power, to some degree (就某種程度而言), still succumb to (臣服於) the cruelty of virus mutations (突變) and some diseases accompanied by the evolution (演變、進化) of civilization, for example, cancers and some lethal contagious diseases (致命的傳染病). In the face of such deadly diseases, the medical circles (醫學界) along with the general public begin to seek for alternative (另類的) medical treatments, notably (特別是) for Chinese medicine and herbal supplements, which have been practiced for thousands of years in China.
Different from Western medicine with immediate effects and intense power probably followed by some sequelas (後遺症), Chinese herbal medicine mostly from natural plants has a relatively mild effect and power. Chinese herbalist doctors highlight (強調、重視) "prevention is better than cure." Prior to (= before 在~之前) possible attacks from viruses, people can make their bodies stronger by dietary supplements (飲食補充物) in which herbs play a pivotal part (扮演核心腳色) in ameliorating (改善) individuals constitution (體質). With a stronger body against viruses, people can keep some fatal (致命的) diseases at bay (使~遠離).
Despite the cutting-edge (尖端的) technologies in Western medical field (西醫領域), some incorrigible diseases (不治之症) cannot still be conquered. Meanwhile, traditional Chinese medicine has emerged as (成為) an alternative treatment for such incurable (不治的) diseases. Rather than resorting to (訴諸於) medical technologies, traditional herbalist doctors, like their ancestors, pursue plausible (似乎有道理的) and possible remedies from nature. They believe that nature serves as a treasury (寶庫) where some potential power is waiting for being found, and such potential power can bring the hopeless (不治的,沒希望的) patients a silver lining (一線曙光).
Western medicine, nowadays, is not the exclusive (唯一的) option (選擇) for patients. To take an example, acupuncture (針灸) has enjoyed a tremendous upsurge in worldwide popularity for the evidence proved by the scientific circles that it is able to cushion (減輕、緩和) some pains and functions as an anaesthetic (麻醉劑) in an operation. In tandem with (隨著~而來) the mutations of viruses and the emergence (出現) of some fatal diseases, humans have begun to excavate (挖掘) other alternative effective medical treatments throughout the world as well as continuous recourse to (訴諸於) Western medicine. After all, the world is so diversified (多樣化的) that some viable (可行的) medical treatments having existed in some corners of the planet are summoning (召喚) humans to detect (發現).
